This is the second part of repairing my damaged Staaker drone after a severe crash into a tree. Spare parts were easily ordered from Staaker and shipped to me. You can skip around to the parts you want to see.. Gimball replacement starts at the 04:00 mark. Rotor arms starts at the 08:30 mark. Closing the clamshell body starts at the 18:30 mark. Installing the legs starts at the 24:00 mark.

This is a video showing how to open up the Staaker for repair and replacement of parts. This is basically a demonstration of the instructions given in the Staaker's manual. This clip starts with a brief video summary of the crashes I've had. Then I open the clam shell to get the arms free. Then I un-mount the gimbal. Lastly I take a look at the arm-locking mechanism because I have a crack in mi...

Footage is from my cam in the GTV6, switching lead with an evenly matched 1986 Porsche 944. Other cars on the track made lap times inconsistent. This was the last session of the day for me. I needed them to mount the front directional lights back on our GTV6 after I took the bumpers off to reduce weight for this season's track events. Our Bora has been maintained, problems repaired, and continues to enjoy an active life on the roads it was intended to travel.. We shipped the Bora across the Atlantic to Norway last summer and drove to the Maserati International Rallye in Båstad, Sweden. The Bora needed some attention underway, but was not difficult to repair and enjoyed a day racing on the Anderstorp F1 track.. The Bora is now back with us in the US for many more miles of pleasure driving.. That's quite a good life for a "poor" Bora, I think. :-)

      Thanks for the question.. I’m not sure of the answer. It has some suspension squeaks.. Your description seems like the squeak a constant sound? Could it be the rattle of the timing chains? But I offer this: The camera and microphone are mounted *in* the engine bay, so it’s picking up every kind of noise that emanates from the rear: The engine, belts, accessories, transmission and suspension. To me, the most prominent sound is from the timing chains, then the belts and accessories add to the noise. I’d like to say any squeak is probably a rubber suspension bushing.. See if that might fit what you’re sensing. But if you relate it to a belt.. then I’m not sure. There is no polyurethane in the suspension. Cheers!

Maybe I need to look harder. However - this June I took the Bora out on the full Anderstorp F1 track and it was friggin incredible. It transitioned surprisingly well to throttle-on oversteer and wasn't hard to control through the exit. It didn't feel unstable or on the threshold of snapping the rear around, which I've been told to be watchful for. Maybe it's the Pirellis vs the OEM XWXs, but suffice to say it was an absolute blast and I'd do it again. The lovely blonde I had along for the ride was fun too.

      Hello Timo! You are thinking of the word ‘accumulator’ as an electric battery. That’s very European :-), but not accurate. Remember that Citroen bought Maserati in 1969. Maserati’s Chief Engineer decided to use the Citroen hydraulic system for the brakes, and some other functions. So the Bora, Merak, Khamsin and Indy, all received some Citroen hydraulic systems. The Citroen system is powered by a high pressure compressor which pressurizes three pressure accumulators. Cheers!

    Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they even want to slow down all the gas pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime. Called Bundesabgasbespaßungsverordnung :-(

    This engine has a dry sump, right?

    • @65SATisfaction
      @65SATisfaction 2 роки тому

      Good question! .. I was just pondering that this evening.. Answer: The Bora’s 4.7 or 4.9* engines are conventional wetsump. The earlier Ghibli and the contemporary Khamsin are drysump engines. I’m not sure about the Indy, but I’ll guess it’s drysump, because it’s a front-engine layout like the Ghibli and Khamsin. Cheers! *All US Boras are 4.9. PS - I speculate, if the Boras got drysumps, maybe the center of the main crank would be too low for the rear ZF transmission? It’s the same transmission as the Ford GT40, and DeTomaso Mangusta & Pantera. Do any of those have drysump engines.?

    • @thethirdman225

    What tyres are you using? As I recall, the original came with Michelin XWX, which was the tyre all supercar manufacturers used in the 1970s but which would get little love today, even from the owners of family saloons. I guess you’re limited to some degree by the wheel dimensions…?

      Thx for the question, I’m driving on Pirelli CN12 Cinturatos from Longstone Tyres in the UK, who offer an assortment of freshly manufactured OEM tires for many vintage cars. The Cinturatos have very good feel, stability and gentle, controllable breakaway characteristics on track. The Bora had Pirelli P4000s when I bought it, and I was plenty happy with those, but they aged out and aren’t offered. I’ve bought Vredestein Sprint Classics for our Khamsin, and am also happy with them, though haven’t driven them at their limits as I have the Bora. Hey Ed, fuel starvation was solved with a Holley fuel pump. I forget what GPM capacity it has, but I installed a fuel pressure gauge in the engine bay, visible from the cockpit, after the fuel filter/regulator. This allowed me to verify the fuel starvation issue (pressure dropped to zero). I left the gauge in place to provide that extra peace of mind when I see 2.5psi on the gauge before I start up. Impending rack problem? I can’t find any leaks to the ground, but the fluid was down or below the minimum line when I got it. I filled it up and it hasn’t moved. Thanks.

    • @65SATisfaction
      @65SATisfaction 2 роки тому

      First - I think you are OK if there is no loss of power steering fluid since you filled the reservoir, and there are no drips under the car. You can see the puddle of fluid on the floor of my garage at the beginning. Right at the 7:23 mark, you can hear a steering 'whine' that is different from the 'whirr' of the ZF automatic.. that is the sound of air in the power steering compressor, indicating a low fluid level has le air in, and possibly a leak. If your power steering level was low enough to have allowed air into the system, the system will bleed the air out automatically after you filled your reservoir. You bleed the air out by starting the car, and slowly turning the steering wheel full left and full right, and don't push the steering wheel hard when you get to the steering limits. Sometimes a steering rack leak can be contained inside the rubber steering bellows, but that will only hold the fluid in until it is full. If you have a leak, it will find a way to drip. Any more questions, just ask. Cheers!

      Good morning Hernan, hello to you in Chile, and greetings from me in New York! I don’t remember how much fuel it used, miles per gallon, but it wasn’t terrible. If I had to guess, I would say between 14 and 16mpg in the city, and 24 to 27mpg on the highway. There is a very good group of helpful enthusiasts on www.AlfaBB.com. Cheers!

    Que manera tan torpe de manejar el volante y el cambio de marchas. Que conductor tan lamentable. Estos americanos no tienen ni idea de conducir

      The problem with humans is we are not perfect. We do not act, think, drive, hold the steering wheel, or double-clutch perfectly. Cars aren’t perfect either. Imperfect clutch adjustment, imperfect gear synchros, imperfect throttle and idle adjustments. Maybe some day you will find the perfection you seek. You will not find it here. Your comment offers only criticism of a normal human condition and narrow-mindedly focuses on Americans. Your comment does not help, or offer advice to anyone. Is your comment any better than the video you criticize?

      @@65SATisfaction no te enfades. Lo cierto es que conduces fatal. No sabes manejar un volante en una carretera con curvas, ni das al cambio el tiempo necesario para la correcta inserción de las marchas. La culpa no es del imperfecto ajuste del coche sino de tu desconocimiento de la técnica de conducción. Es un caso de torpeza y falta de capacidad y habilidad. El coche es precioso y yo confío en que te tomes en serio el aprendizaje del manejo de un coche en Europa. En América los coches son automáticos y las carreteras rectas. En Europa, por el contrario, es necesario saber conducir. Resulta lamentable ver una pieza de colección en manos de un mal conductor. Es como si pusieras un video de un mal aprendiz haciendo chirriar un estradivarius

      That's awesome Tim, how long ago was that? My first was in 1981, paid $400 for a '66 Dart 270 convertible, with the indestructible 225 slant six. It wasn't all mine though, my dad insisted my brother and I share a car, so we split it. Cheers!
